Training Day

On Sunday May 9th we are organising a training/course familiarisation day for any athletes who would like to go round the course prior to race day.

There will be many experienced triathletes on hand to offer help and advice on any aspect of triathlon - be it what should I wear, what to expect in transition, how will I find my bike among 400 others, what should I eat/drink etc etc.

The day will start at 11:00 am with a general triathlon talk, followed by a quick dip in the pool. This will enable us to go over the transition from swim to bike. After a leisurely change into your cycling kit we will set off in small groups (5-6) on the bike course. (Groups will be spilt into novice and sprint athletes). All groups will be cycling at a very steady pace, only going as fast as the slowest person in the group. After returning to the Sports Centre and a change into our running gear, we will set out on the run route. This will again be at a very steady pace and the number of laps completed will be up to you. At the end of the run there will be plenty of time for any final questions you may have.

The emphasis of the day is to provide help and advice to novice/inexperienced athletes and allow you to go round the course at a leisurely pace. It is not a day for fast training.

If you would like to attend and have not ticked the box on the entry form, please drop me an email and then turn up on the day with your bike, helmet and assorted kit.
